Carpet was the starting point in several of these rooms. In one Clermont home, dark brown wood-look laminate covers the hallway and the living and dining areas, meeting the tile that stayed at the entry and kitchen. A second home has light gray wood-look plank wall to wall in its bedrooms and closet.
Some rooms had hard floors past their time. Worn light boards gave way to charcoal gray ones in a bedroom. A tired light gray floor was lifted to bare concrete so dark brown vinyl plank could run across the living area, hallway and entry. And beige ceramic was broken up in an entry, hallway, laundry room and kitchen area to make way for dark wood-look plank.
Two bathroom floors were redone as well, with fresh plywood patched into the subfloor beneath gray wood-look vinyl plank. Clermont sits in Lake County, west of Orlando, with Winter Garden and Windermere for neighbors.
Removal, subfloor work, installation, transitions and baseboards all remain with the same installers. Old planks come up in one of two ways: floating floors come apart plank by plank, while glued ones leave adhesive that is scraped from the slab before anything new is laid. Ceramic is the heaviest tear-out, an entire day of breaking, hauling and cleanup by itself.
